Biography

Joan Roberts (Harris) is a visual artist who grew up in Grand Bank, NL. She has spent all her adult life living in St. John's. Joan is a self-taught artist but she has taken many classes and workshops with several local and nationally acclaimed artists. She completed a workshop in France in 2004 and in one in Maine, U.S.A. in October, 2005. Joan paints acrylics, oils and water colors. She paints many subjects and she endeavours to create art that evokes mood, emotion, and inspiration. She enjoys the challenge of using her own photos and sketches to capture what she feels at the moment. Joan enjoys realism but also explores impressionism and the abstract.

Her goal is to use her creative energy to her fullest potential and enjoy many styles of painting. Joan prefers to paint mostly originals but several of her works are in limited production. Joan is a member of the board of the Art Association of Newfoundland and Labrador.
